Short answerChoose a Burbank agency by asking whether it understands who your buyer actually is. Burbank has roughly 12,400 businesses and 165,000 workers against about 103,000 residents, so most demand here comes from people who work in the city, not live in it. That changes targeting, hours, messaging and channel mix.

The short answer

Choose a Burbank agency by asking whether it understands who your buyer actually is. Burbank has roughly 12,400 businesses and 165,000 workers against about 103,000 residents, so most demand here comes from people who work in the city, not live in it. That changes targeting, hours, messaging and channel mix.

What actually drives the number

Four Burbank-specific factors set the scope and price of a marketing engagement.

A daytime economy, not a residential one. Burbank’s economic development office reports about 12,400 businesses and a workforce population of 165,000 in a city of roughly 104,000 residents (Burbank Economic Development Annual Report), with the 2025 State of the City repeating 12,200-plus businesses and 165,000 workers (myBurbank). Your peak demand is Tuesday at 12:30, not Saturday at 11:00. Agencies that copy a suburban retail calendar into Burbank miss the pattern completely.

Media is the customer base, and it is under pressure. The Media District alone hosts The Walt Disney Company’s world headquarters, Warner Bros. Studios, ABC Television, New Line Cinema, Legendary Entertainment, DC Comics, iHeart Media, PBS SoCal and Hollywood Records (Burbank Economic Development), and the city counts more than 1,000 media and entertainment companies overall. But Los Angeles County’s creative economy shed 23,600 jobs in 2025, with film, television and sound employment down 10% (Otis College Report on the Creative Economy), and on-location production in Los Angeles fell 16.1% across 2025 (FilmLA data via Deadline). If your revenue leans on production spend, an agency that only knows how to buy more clicks is the wrong hire. You need diversification, not amplification.

Two different buying motions in one city. A Burbank restaurant, dentist or gym sells to a local consumer and lives or dies on the map pack, where Google ranks on relevance, distance and prominence (Google Business Profile Help). A post house, staffing firm, equipment vendor or agency sells into studio procurement, where the decision runs on referrals, vendor lists and a long evaluation. One agency can serve both, but it must say out loud which one you are.

Lower fixed cost than Los Angeles proper. Burbank levies no city income tax and no gross sales receipts tax (Burbank Economic Development), while a business inside Los Angeles city limits pays $4.25 per $1,000 of gross receipts on professions and occupations (L.A. Office of Finance). Office space also has slack: the city reported 11.4% citywide office vacancy with Class A and B at 21.6% (Burbank Economic Development Annual Report), and the Media District showed 26.60% office vacancy at about $4.50 per square foot in Q2 2026 against retail vacancy of just 3.10% (Burbank Media District). Cheap offices and scarce retail tell you where competition actually is.

How to tell which applies to you

Answer one question: does a stranger become your customer within a week, or within a quarter? If within a week, you are a local demand business and your budget belongs in Business Profile, reviews, local search and geofenced paid media around the studios and the office parks. If within a quarter, you are a considered-purchase business and your budget belongs in content, reputation, outbound and referral systems, with search as support.

Burbank fact Figure What it means for your plan
Businesses in the city about 12,400 Dense B2B market inside a small footprint
Workforce vs residents 165,000 vs about 103,000 Weekday, daytime demand dominates
Media and entertainment companies more than 1,000 Procurement-led buying, long cycles
City tax on service revenue none Lower overhead than Los Angeles city addresses
Median household income $97,082 Above the Los Angeles city figure of $81,939

What we’d do

TACK™ works from Ventura Boulevard in Sherman Oaks, about fifteen minutes over the hill from the Media District, with production studios in Northridge. We do not claim a Burbank office and we do not need one. Since 2009 we have run more than 2,500 campaigns for 300-plus brands across 15-plus industries, we are a Google, Meta, Shopify and TikTok Partner, and client satisfaction sits at 97%. Engagements start at $5,000 a month.

For a Burbank business we start by separating weekday-worker demand from resident demand and building against whichever pays. For local demand, that means Business Profile, review velocity and tightly bounded paid media, which is Get Leads. For studio-adjacent B2B, it means content that survives procurement scrutiny and visibility in the answer engines buyers now use for shortlists, which is Get Found. We are AI integrators rather than trainers, so where a quoting, intake or reporting workflow is eating hours, we build the automation into your operation. Recent work is on our case studies page.

Common mistakes

Marketing to residents in a worker city. Weekend-weighted campaigns in a city with 165,000 weekday workers and 103,000 residents miss the traffic. Cost: usually a third of media spend landing on the wrong days.

Betting the plan on production volume. With county film, television and sound employment down 10% and on-location shoot days down 16.1% in 2025, a vendor whose pipeline depends entirely on local production has a concentration problem, not a marketing problem. Cost: an entire revenue line.

Buying a local pack strategy for a procurement sale. Studios do not choose vendors from a map. Twelve months of map-pack work for a B2B post-production supplier is twelve months of the wrong channel. Cost: a full year of budget and the sales cycle behind it.

The bottom line

Burbank is a weekday, media-heavy, business-dense city with a soft production market and no city gross receipts tax. The right agency will tell you which of the two Burbank buying motions you are in before it quotes you anything.
