Ranking is not the same as
being recommended.

Generative engine optimisation is the work of becoming the source a model reaches for. Different index, different rules, and almost nobody is doing it properly yet.

GEO Agency — Generative Engine Optimization
The short answer

Generative engine optimisation (GEO) is the practice of getting a brand cited inside AI-generated answers. It works on entity clarity, citation sources and answer-shaped content rather than keyword rank. GEO has roughly twice the search demand of AEO, and the field is still young enough to win.

A brand-presence play, not a traffic play. Measured accordingly.
What it involves

What actually moves a citation.

Most of it is unglamorous. All of it is measurable.

01

Entity Foundation

Consistent, machine-readable identity everywhere a model looks.

02

Source Placement

Presence on the domains LLMs cite most: Reddit, LinkedIn, YouTube, review platforms.

03

Answer-Shaped Content

One question per page, answered in the first sixty words.

04

Competitive Citation Gap

Who gets quoted instead of you, and on which prompts.

05

Prompt Coverage

The real questions buyers ask a model, mapped to pages.

06

Schema & Structure

Structured data that reinforces the entity, not the layout.

07

Monitoring

Per-engine tracking. They behave differently, so they are measured differently.

08

Reporting

Share of citation over time, with the prompts that produced it.

In plain language

What this actually means.

Search is now two jobs. Classic SEO still decides where you rank on a results page. Answer Engine Optimisation decides whether ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity and Claude quote you when someone asks a question out loud. The technical work overlaps by about seventy per cent. The content work does not.

Concrete, not conceptual.

01

Search Console → content plan

Every query at position 6-20 becomes a brief. That band is where a week of work moves real traffic.

GSC API + sheet
02

Schema at scale

Service, FAQ and breadcrumb markup generated per page from the page itself, not hand-written once and left to rot.

JSON-LD engine
03

Internal linking

A live keyword map that links new pages to old ones automatically, so authority moves the moment a page is published.

04

Answer-engine monitoring

The same twenty buying questions asked every month across five engines, logged, so you can see when you start getting cited.

Is AEO different from SEO?

The plumbing is the same: crawlable, fast, structured, authoritative. The writing is not. Answer engines lift short, self-contained, factual passages — so every page needs a 40 to 60 word answer near the top that stands on its own.

How long before anything moves?

Technical fixes show inside two to six weeks. Content and authority take three to six months. Anyone promising faster is either buying links or lying.

Will AI-written pages get us penalised?

Scaled, thin, near-duplicate pages will — that is Google's scaled content abuse policy, and it is a site-wide manual action, not a per-page demotion. Genuinely different pages built on real local data are fine. We gate every generated page on a uniqueness score and noindex anything that fails.

Do you guarantee rankings?

No, and neither should anyone else. We report position, impressions, clicks and pipeline every month and you can see exactly what moved.

Where we measure it

Visibility isn't one place any more.

Every answer engine builds its index differently. We track them separately, because they behave separately.

AI made us faster.
It didn't make us new.
Why us, not the next one

We've been doing search
since 2009.

Four algorithm eras. This is the fifth. We know which parts matter and which parts are noise, because we were here for the last four times everyone said search was dead.

We're not yes-people. We're going to do what's good for your brand.

How it starts

No deck. No mystery number.

01

Fit call

Twenty minutes. What you are trying to hit, by when, what is in the way.

02

Access

Read-only. Analytics, Search Console, the CMS. We look before we talk.

03

Findings

Where you appear today across every answer engine. Yours either way.

04

Scope

Written, itemised, assumptions listed so you can argue with them.

05

Start

Within a week of signature. You own every account.

We lock in.
We scope.
We got you.

Twenty minutes, no deck. Tell us what you're trying to hit and we'll tell you straight whether we're the right team for it.
